Because the people who are suffering from schizophrenia are not able to differentiate between fantasy and reality. But some experts say that maladaptive daydreaming is not schizophrenia. Because the people who suffer from this disorder are able to differentiate between daydream and fantasy.

According to some studies, poor sleep quality can lead to more daydreaming. The poor sleeping condition also links with the slower the reaction time, impaired attention, impaired memory, and intensive daydreaming.

Searching online adaptive community, making your daydreaming productive, keep the journal help that helps you to focus, these activities also help you to reduce the number of daydreaming.
